Getting Started

Welcome to Badge Composer! This guide will walk you through creating your first badge in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Sign Up

  1. Go to Badge Composer and click Sign Up.
  2. Enter your email address and create a password. Make sure your password is secure (at least 8 characters).
  3. Click Create Account. You'll receive a confirmation email.
  4. Click the confirmation link in your email to verify your account.
  5. You're all set! You can now log in and access the editor.

Step 2: Create Your First Badge

You have two options: start from a template or start with a blank badge.

Option A: Use a Template (Recommended)

  1. From your dashboard, click Browse Templates.
  2. Browse templates by category (Corporate, Healthcare, Education, Events, etc.).
  3. Click on a template that matches your needs. You'll see a preview.
  4. Click Use This Template to open it in the editor.

Option B: Start Blank

  1. From your dashboard, click New Badge.
  2. Choose a badge size and orientation (portrait or landscape).
  3. Click Create to open a blank canvas.

Step 3: Customize Your Badge

Now you're in the editor. Here's how to add your content:

Add Text

  1. Click the Text button in the left toolbar.
  2. Click on the canvas where you want to add text.
  3. Type your text (e.g., "John Doe", "Employee ID: 12345").
  4. Use the right panel to format: font, size, color, and alignment.

Add a Photo

  1. Click the Image button in the left toolbar.
  2. Click on the canvas to insert an image zone.
  3. In the right panel, click Upload to add a photo from your computer.
  4. Drag to resize and position the photo.

Add Shapes & Backgrounds

  1. Use Lines for dividers and line styles; use Shapes for rectangles, circles, and other shapes.
  2. In the right panel, change the fill color or add a gradient.
  3. To change the background, click the Background section in the right panel and choose a color or gradient.

Step 4: Export Your Badge

  1. Click Export in the top toolbar.
  2. Choose a file format:
    • PDF: Best for printing. Preserves all formatting and is ready to print on badge stock.
    • PNG: For digital sharing. Includes a transparent background by default.
  3. Click Download. Your file will be saved to your computer.

Pro tip: To print your badges, order them through our printing service (available for Pro and Business plans) or use a local print shop with your PDF export.

Save Your Design

Your badge design is automatically saved to your account. You can:

  • View all your saved designs on your Dashboard.
  • Edit a design at any time by clicking on it.
  • Duplicate a design to use as a starting point for a new one.
  • Delete a design you no longer need.
